Car history: |
Very nice #'s matching Vette with leather, AT, AC, PW & PL. My friend has owned this Vette about 8 years. He doesnt know much of its prior history other than it had recently undergone an extensive restoration when he bought it. Since purchase, hes put about 20,000 miles on the odometer (shows 106k now) and performed routine maintenance. Hes also done the following: installed a remote-control Alpine stereo with 6-CD changer mounted in the rear, replaced the points in the distributor with an electronic ignition, replaced the exhaust pipes and mufflers, replaced the gas tank, and added new floor mats and a car cover. The car is equipped with its original automatic transmission and matching 200-hp engine. Per the trim plate, it has the correct Mille Miglia Red paint and black custom interior trim. Factory options include tilt and telescopic steering wheel, air conditioning (works fine), power windows and power locks. The seats are fitted with lap belts only. The top is made of modern cloth instead of factory style nylon. The wheels are the same kind used on the 1978 Corvette Pace Car. Sorry, no hardtop. As the photos show, the car is in very good condition. The paint shines. The chrome sparkles. The body panels line up correctly, and the car sits evenly on all four wheels. The hood, doors and deck lid open and close as they should. Most of the weather-stripping shows minimal wear. The lights pop up and the wipers work great. The engine starts without any problems. The car drives and handles fine. The frame looks very solid. My friend says the car, as far as he knows, has never been in an accident. Theres good tread on the tires. That said, this car isnt perfect. The convertible top frame has made an impression where it rests on the deck lid. The paint is milky above the gas tank, and pinhead-sized bubbles have formed in a few areas mostly on and behind the deck lid (virtually impossible to see). Theres also a dime-sized chip missing near the right headlight. Except for the chip, you really cant see the paint imperfections from more than 10 feet away. In my opinion, a good wax, polish and buff would clear up most of the blemishes. Overall, Id rate the paint a 6 out of 10 for a classic Corvette. Motor suffix code is V0120CKX. 106,000 miles. Colors from the trim plate. October 16, 2008. VIN QUESTIONNABLE. |
